Annual Meeting - 2023

Many thanks to all members who attended and participated in our 2023 Annual Meeting! We had an excellent turnout and were informed by a series of talks from District 3 Supervisor Anaiah Kirk, Undersheriff Neil Evans, CalFire Battalion Chief Paul Karpus, Administrative Coordinator/Board Supervisor of Twain Harte Community Services District Kim Silva, and Public Works Director Kim MacFarlane.

Thanks to your dues and donations, the Twain Harte Homeowners Board was able to make contributions towards the development of the Twain Harte Women Veteran’s Memorial and towards Twain Harte Area CERT’s purchase of a LUCAS chest compression system (an adjunct to manual CPR during transport or for extended periods) for use by the Twain Harte Fire Department.

Past Projects

The Mug

The Homeowners group, with efforts spearheaded by Jeff Sorensen, refurbished the famous Twain Harte “Mug” and painted a new logo and foam!

Originally built by the Farr family in 1960, the owners of the Frostop restaurant, the Mug has long been a treasured symbol of Twain Harte. Many thanks to Jeff, Nate Schram painting, artist Judy Grossman (logo), and Steve and Cindy Zelinsky (Mug owners) for restoring its glory!

Mural

Twain Harte Homeowners commissioned local artist Tracy Knopf to paint the Historical Twain Harte Mural at the 7-11 on Meadow Drive leading into Eproson Park. This beautiful mural begins with the Me Wuk People’s village and features Chief William Fuller and a short biography. It continues to travel through time highlighting the Sonora Mono Pass Toll Gate with a logger and horse drawn wagon which now has a marker on the exact site located on Twain Harte Drive. Tracy produced portraits of Mark Twain and Bret Harte with a brief biography of each as a remembrance of how our town was named. Her rendering includes the famous Twain Harte Arch made from tree trunks built in 1933 and a replica of the 1934 Twain Harte Fire Truck passing beneath it. The mural also features the Dardanelle Mountain Range, local wildlife, flowers, and trees. Finally, she included the Lake and Rock that enjoyed by generations of families since 1928. The framework and pitched live bark roof was designed and installed by the Homeowners Project Team: Jeff Sorensen, Bill Bamford, Randy Waugh, and Rich Schwarzmann.

Map for Evacuation Planning

Living in a fire-prone area, we must be prepared with multiple options for evacuation. We prepared and sent a full color map of Twain Harte and potential evacuation routes to the Homeowners for emergency planning .

Welcome Sign

As you approach town on Twain Harte Drive, you are welcomed by a lit sign with the logos of several of our local volunteer groups. The Homeowners group built and installed the sign, and local hero Rick Ramet recently donated time to its repair after weather/erosion damage.

Daffodils

Every year, Homeowners plants daffodils all over town. Keep an eye out for these lovely splashes of color coming up February through May.

Picnic Tables and Umbrellas

Homeowners funded and set up picnic tables and umbrellas at Twain Harte parks.

Painting and Gravel at Eproson Park

Homeowners funded and contributed to the repainting of the stage building and both bathrooms at Eproson Park and partnered with THCSD to paint the ball field buildings and to install new gravel.

Bocce Pavilion

Homeowners helped THCSD sand and stain the Bocce pavilion and assisted in the nearby landscaping as well as installation of the dry creek bed in front of the skate park.

Directional Signs

Your Homeowners group installed and maintains the directional signs around town.

Planter Circle at the Arch

Thanks to John Kinsfather, Bill Bamford, Randy Waugh, Jeff Sorensen, Wes Jordan, and Twain Harte Homeowners for refurbishing the planter circle!

Your Homeowners group is dedicated to keeping Twain Harte tidy! We have installed 6 quality trash cans around the downtown area.

Wall Steps at Eproson Park

No more awkwardly climbing over the low wall to get to your picnic buddies during Concert in the Pines!

Ongoing Projects

Manual Litter Pickups

Each year from about April to October, weather permitting, Twain Harte homeowners conducts a Saturday morning trash pickup. We provide bags, garbage grabbers, a route plan, and donuts - volunteers do the grabbing and gabbing! Keep an eye out for email reminders of the dates.
