Welcome to Twain Harte

Come Participate in the Twain Harte Homeowners Community!

September 2023: Twain Harte Community Services District has begun the construction of Meadows Park!!

Most of us have picked Twain Harte, part time or full time, because it is our “Special Place”. Twain Harte Homeowners was started some 47 years ago by a group of community members who felt just that way. Twain Harte is special and they wanted to help to keep it that way. Your current Homeowners Board makes every effort to keep that objective alive. You too can help with those ongoing efforts by becoming a member of Twain Harte Homeowners . It’s an effective way to give back to your “Special Place”. Your membership and donations are what helps to support the efforts to keep Twain Harte a Special Place to Be. If you are not already a member please take time to join today.

Our Board

  • John Kinsfather

    President

I grew up in Southern California and was married in Ventura in 1960. Over the years I have lived in a number of various parts of our country and have traveled throughout Europe and the Far East. In 1990 my wife Judith and I were living in the Bay Area but wanted to find a little place that we could use to get away. We didn’t want to be too far so started our search here in the foothills. Fortunately we decided on Twain Harte and bought a small cabin in the Village, “Le Chateau Kinsfather”. We came to Twain Harte for some 10 years part time. Over the years we made many friends here and decided in 1999 to retire and make this our Special Place. We had not thought we would be moving here full time so found we needed to make a number of improvement to our small cabin in order for it to be livable full time. It wasn’t long before friends convinced us to join Twain Harte Homeowners so we could help to keep Twain Harte special. Over the years I joined the Lake Board and was President in 2011. I then became a CSD Board member and later represented Homeowners on Partners for Twain Harte. Over the years I have been involved with many improvements to our Eproson park, our new Bocce courts and hope to do so with our new addition of Meadow Park. Presently I am President of Twain Harte Homeowners which now after some 24 years continues to affords me the best way to stay active in our Community and to continue to give back to Twain Harte my Special Place.

  • Jeff Sorensen

    Vice President

My wife Nancy and I love Twain Harte. We enjoyed summer vacations here with our family for 15 years. We decided in 2013 to make Twain Harte our full-time residence. We began looking at properties and after a two-year search we found our dream home. We sold our home of 25 years in Dublin, California and have lived here full time since 2015. We love the community and are very happy to be part of it. We have been married for 53 years and have three married daughters and seven grandchildren. I have been a Landscape Contractor and Woodworker for 45 years. I approached the Twain Harte Homeowners Board in the summer of 2017 to propose the refurbishing of the Mug, here in Twain Harte. They voted in favor of the project and asked me to join the Twain Harte Homeowners Board in the Fall of 2017. In 2018 the board requested that I become Project Manager. After several years, I was voted in as Vice President and now hold both positions. In addition to serving on the Twain Harte Homeowners Board, I am the Facilities Manager of Twain Harte Lake. I was very impressed with the contributions the Twain Harte Homeowners Board has made to the Community and was excited to become a part of this group that is so successful in getting the job done, whatever it may be. I am proud to be a board member and look forward to continuing our projects and efforts to keep Twain Harte beautiful.

In the beginning of 1980, my high school friend bought a home on Twain Harte Lake. He had invited us up for many visits. In 1992, after being “bitten by the Twain Harte bug“ we purchased a small cabin off Twain Harte Drive. We spent all our non-working time there. On retiring we moved from the Bay Area where I was born and raised and purchased a home by Brentwood Lake. I have been very active in the community serving on multiple boards: Brentwood Lake Club, Sons in Retirement, Sierra-Tuolumne Kennel Club and Twain Harte Homeowners. I have participated with many of the Homeowners projects around the area. I believe our goal as a board member is “keep Twain Harte beautiful“.

P.S.: I also have 2 dogs and participate in dog events.

Hello Twain Harte friends! I’m pleased to be one of your newer Board Members for Twain Harte Homeowners. Though I’ve only been here for 21 years, my parents grew up here (Sonora HS, Class of ’55), and 3 generations earlier, my ancestors settled here from France, having a meat wagon in Stent. My husband Pat and I enjoy RV camping, rides on the Harley, and entertaining at our home. I very much enjoy volunteering in our community, and I especially appreciate what Twain Harte Homeowners has been able to accomplish to make our town shine. When you see the TWN <3 GAL Jeep in town, honk and wave, and I will too!

So pleased to serve as a member of Twain Harte Homeowners. Such a pleasure to be a part of making Twain Harte a more beautiful place to live. My wife Bernie and I moved here 12 years ago. It was the best move we ever made. We both grew up in Ventura but now are in love with mountain life, and I personally love to flyfish. We plan on spending the rest of our days here!

  • Nancy Hoag

I’m marking my 11th year serving with the Twain Harte Homeowners board as the membership and marketing officer. My husband and I moved up here in 2006 after being able to purchase our “vacation home” from a rental office in town. We have 3 grown children and 7 grandchildren that are all over the country. I currently work at Adventist Health Sonora as a PASS coordinator and surgery scheduler. Our adorable large dogs keep me on the go, never a dull moment. My hobbies include playing the keys at Chapel in the Pines, gardening at the community garden, and serving our town to keep it beautiful.

  • Ladd Brunner

I’ve been a full time resident of Twain Harte for 11 years and now a teacher and Assistant Principal at Twain Harte Elementary. I’ve been very excited about the opportunity to join the Twain Harte Homeowners board and get more involved in helping to shape the future of our community. My wife Amanda, who is a Tuolumne County Public Health Nurse, and I still pinch ourselves that we live in such a beautiful and charming small town. We still remember our first visit here, where we stayed at Cameron and Kayce’s Gables Cedar Creek Inn, and were treated like family. That set the tone and really inspired us to want to make Twain Harte our home. I’m very passionate about the outdoors (Amanda and I were married in the Emigrant Wilderness), education, music, beekeeping, and I have a strong sense of community. I’m enjoying working together and connecting with others to develop and achieve a shared vision for Twain Harte. I look forward to what the future brings to our wonderful mountain town!

  • Julianna Canavan

Hello Twain Harte Homeowners! I moved to Twain Harte in 2017 to enjoy its natural beauty and small town charm, and to be close to my parents. I met my husband Jay in 2019 and we were married in 2020. We love working on our home and yard and walking our rescue dogs along the peaceful ditch trails and around town. I am very passionate about my work as a medical writer in the medical device industry. I love to travel, collect Christmas tree ornaments, and rake leaves. A fun fact about me is that I’m really good at identifying See’s candies! I am very grateful for this opportunity to give back to our wonderful community and to the Homeowners for the incredible work they do to keep our town tidy and welcoming.

  • Randy and Diane Skipper

We are both very happy to be part of the Twain Harte Homeowner's Board. We are originally from Fresno and have been married for 31 years. Twain Harte has always been a special place for me, as my family used to vacation here when I was very young. We decided to purchase our cabin here in 2014, fixed it up and began living here full time in 2017. Randy and I are now both retired and enjoying life. We love spending time walking around Twain Harte with our two dogs, Cooper and Sophie. We also like to travel as much as possible, go camping, watch NASCAR, football and other sporting events. Twain Harte is such an awesome place; we are so blessed to be able to enjoy it with our family and friends.

  • Nancy Sorensen

    Administrative Assistant

I moved to Twain Harte with my husband Jeff in 2015 to make it our permanent residence. We spent many summers here on vacation with our beautiful family of 3 daughters, their husbands and 7 grandchildren. We loved Twain Harte from the moment we arrived, took in all its beauty, found our dream home and decided this was where we wanted to live. I was hired by Berkshire Hathaway California Realty as the Assistant Office Manager and worked there for 5 years until they closed the Twain Harte office in 2020. When Jeff was asked to become a Twain Harte Homeowners Board of Director they were also in need of an Administrative Assistant. It seemed to be a perfect fit, so I inquired and was hired for the position. I also work at Twain Harte Lake as a Gatehouse Attendant every summer. Prior to our relocation, I was the Office Manager for Sycamore Valley Chiropractic in Danville for 16 years and previously worked as an Office Manager and Administrative Assistant for multiple companies such as, Kvaerner, Hexcel Corporation and a Family Law Practice in Oakland. I also worked as a teller and new accounts representative for First Western Savings and Loan, Wells Fargo Bank, Bank of America and United California Bank. I am so proud to be part of this group and its ongoing effort to keep “Twain Harte a Beautiful Place to Be”.
