Twain Harte Trail Project Update
We’re at it again! We are making great progress on the Twain Harte , soon to be, Community Trail. We have gotten rid of a number of protruding stumps and removed a number of dead and dying trees. Our collaborator Jonathan Carter has made great progress on his portion of the trail which he has undertaking as his Eagle Scout project. There is much yet to be done but we will endeavor to keep you up to date as we move forward!
Twain Harte is a special place.
Nearly fifty years ago, a small group of neighbors felt exactly the same way and decided to come together to help keep it a special place. That is how Twain Harte Homeowners began.
Today, our volunteer board continues that mission, working year-round to support the charm, character, and community spirit that make Twain Harte feel like home to everyone.
You can be part of that effort. Becoming a member is one of the simplest and most meaningful ways to give back to this place we all love. Your membership and donations help fund the projects and improvements that keep Twain Harte a special place to be.
If you are not already a member, we invite you to join us today.

John Kinsfather - President
I grew up in Southern California and, after living in different parts of the country and traveling abroad, my wife Judith and I eventually settled in the Bay Area. In 1990 we looked for a close getaway in the foothills and were lucky enough to find Twain Harte. We bought a small cabin, “Le Chateau Kinsfather,” and spent ten years coming up part time before deciding in 1999 to retire here full time.
Once we made Twain Harte our home, we joined the Homeowners to help keep this place special. Over the years I have served on the Lake Board, the CSD Board, and Partners for Twain Harte, and worked on improvements to Eproson Park, the bocce courts, and now Meadow Park. Today, after twenty four years, I continue to serve as President of Twain Harte Homeowners because it remains the best way I know to stay active and give back to the community I love.

Bill Bamford - Vice President
In the beginning of 1980, my high school friend bought a home on Twain Harte Lake. He had invited us up for many visits. In 1992, after being “bitten by the Twain Harte bug“ we purchased a small cabin off Twain Harte Drive. We spent all our non-working time there. On retiring we moved from the Bay Area where I was born and raised and purchased a home by Brentwood Lake. I have been very active in the community serving on multiple boards: Brentwood Lake Club, Sons in Retirement, Sierra-Tuolumne Kennel Club and Twain Harte Homeowners. I have participated with many of the Homeowners projects around the area. I believe our goal as a board member is “keep Twain Harte beautiful“.
P.S.: I also have 2 dogs and participate in dog events.

Nancy Sorensen - Administrative Assistant
My husband Jeff and I made Twain Harte our permanent home in 2015 after spending many summers here with our three daughters and seven grandchildren. We fell in love with the town right away and were lucky to find our dream home. I worked as the Assistant Office Manager for Berkshire Hathaway until the Twain Harte office closed in 2020, and later became the Administrative Assistant for Twain Harte Homeowners when Jeff joined the Board. I also work each summer as a Gatehouse Attendant at Twain Harte Lake.
Before moving here, I spent many years as an Office Manager and Administrative Assistant for several companies, and earlier in my career worked in banking as a teller and new accounts representative. I am proud to be part of this group and to help keep Twain Harte a beautiful place to be.

My wife Nancy and I spent fifteen summers vacationing in Twain Harte before deciding to make it our full time home. After a long search, we found our dream house and moved here in 2015. We have been married for fifty three years, with three daughters and seven grandchildren, and we love being part of this community.
I have worked as a landscape contractor and woodworker for forty five years. In 2017 I proposed refurbishing the Mug and soon after joined the Twain Harte Homeowners Board. I now serve as Vice President and Project Manager, and also work as Facilities Manager at Twain Harte Lake.
I am proud to serve on this board and to help keep Twain Harte beautiful.

Hello Twain Harte friends! I’m pleased to be one of your newer Board Members for Twain Harte Homeowners. Though I’ve only been here for 21 years, my parents grew up here (Sonora HS, Class of ’55), and 3 generations earlier, my ancestors settled here from France, having a meat wagon in Stent. My husband Pat and I enjoy RV camping, rides on the Harley, and entertaining at our home. I very much enjoy volunteering in our community, and I especially appreciate what Twain Harte Homeowners has been able to accomplish to make our town shine. When you see the TWN <3 GAL Jeep in town, honk and wave, and I will too!

So pleased to serve as a member of Twain Harte Homeowners. Such a pleasure to be a part of making Twain Harte a more beautiful place to live. My wife Bernie and I moved here 12 years ago. It was the best move we ever made. We both grew up in Ventura but now are in love with mountain life, and I personally love to flyfish. We plan on spending the rest of our days here!

I’m marking my 11th year serving with the Twain Harte Homeowners board as the membership and marketing officer. My husband and I moved up here in 2006 after being able to purchase our “vacation home” from a rental office in town. We have 3 grown children and 7 grandchildren that are all over the country. I currently work at Adventist Health Sonora as a PASS coordinator and surgery scheduler. Our adorable large dogs keep me on the go, never a dull moment. My hobbies include playing the keys at Chapel in the Pines, gardening at the community garden, and serving our town to keep it beautiful.

I’ve been a full time resident of Twain Harte for 11 years and now a teacher and Assistant Principal at Twain Harte Elementary. I’ve been very excited about the opportunity to join the Twain Harte Homeowners board and get more involved in helping to shape the future of our community. My wife Amanda, who is a Tuolumne County Public Health Nurse, and I still pinch ourselves that we live in such a beautiful and charming small town. We still remember our first visit here, where we stayed at Cameron and Kayce’s Gables Cedar Creek Inn, and were treated like family. That set the tone and really inspired us to want to make Twain Harte our home. I’m very passionate about the outdoors (Amanda and I were married in the Emigrant Wilderness), education, music, beekeeping, and I have a strong sense of community. I’m enjoying working together and connecting with others to develop and achieve a shared vision for Twain Harte. I look forward to what the future brings to our wonderful mountain town!

Randy and Diane Skipper
We are both very happy to be part of the Twain Harte Homeowner's Board. We are originally from Fresno and have been married for 31 years. Twain Harte has always been a special place for me, as my family used to vacation here when I was very young. We decided to purchase our cabin here in 2014, fixed it up and began living here full time in 2017. Randy and I are now both retired and enjoying life. We love spending time walking around Twain Harte with our two dogs, Cooper and Sophie. We also like to travel as much as possible, go camping, watch NASCAR, football and other sporting events. Twain Harte is such an awesome place; we are so blessed to be able to enjoy it with our family and friends.
